Hacienda Grimon, Como lo Haria mi Abuelo 2021
Located in the foothills of the Monte Grimon mountain ranges in the heart of Rioja Alta, Hacienda Grimon have been producing exceptional Spanish wines since 1999. It's ran by brothers Paco & Eliseo, who pride themselves on only using traditional Spanish farming techniques which are centuries old, and who also only grow indigenous Spanish grape varieties in their fully organic vineyards. Como lo Haria mi Abuelo ("How my Grandfather would do it") 2021 is made from a blend of the 4 noble red Riojan grape varieties: Tempranillo, Garnacha, Graciano and Mazuelo (Carignan); it has also seen a small amount of the white grape, Viura, added too. In terms of winemaking, it's a true nod to the past as the grapes have undergone carbonic maceration, a traditional way of fermenting the grapes which results in lower alcohol and super fresh flavours, afterwhich the wine was lightly oaked. Bursting with notes of strawberry, redcurrant and blackberry, it has finely balanced tannins and nice lengthy finish.
